Animations and art reskin, Best Fiends Stars

Best Fiends Stars had collection events running occasionally, and these are two of the skins I did for them.On the left, I used simple tween components in Unity to bring the scene to life. On the right, the character was animated in Spine to achieve a more complex set of movements and even some distortion as the player progressed in the event.

New World Found!

In this sequence of events taken from Best Fiends Stars, I worked to create fun and engaging animations to help the player see their progression; how the stars appear from the node, the node movement itself and it's effects, and the pop up to tell the player about the new world they have just reached.

This was all about having clarity of events, allowing the player to focus on each part as needed, and celebrate when they reached a new milestone on their journey.

Level Up!

This animation sequence was made for Best Fiends Rivals, and shows how we transitioned from the character info panel, designed by our UI artist, to the upgrade screen. I designed the layout of the upgrade information and all the effects and animations. If the character looks static here, that’s because he is! He’s a placeholder for this animation sequence that I sent to the coders so they could properly develop this area with the art and animations in mind, and was replaced at runtime be the fully animated version.

While working on Best Fiends Rivals, I concepted how the score meter should animate. This mock up that was later sent to the development team so they could code exactly how it should work was made so they had a clear idea of how things should look, including all the movements and effects, which were later ripped from this mock up video (made in Unity) to be used in the real sequence of events at runtime.
